Photography - Art & Design
The Photography course focuses on the technical and creative skills, techniques and processes across both digital and traditional photography. You will learn how to use a camera, as well as how to edit and develop your work creatively using photoshop and darkroom methods.

Specific Entry Requirement: Grade 6 in Art and Design or Textiles.
If you have not studied Art at GCSE you will be required to present a portfolio of work during departmental interview.

Is this the course for you? Are you interested in: Using a 35mm film camera and digital SLR? Using a darkroom? Digital photographic skills? Studio lighting?
Teaching Methods: Studio practice with a specialist teacher. You will be taught traditional darkroom and digital photography, alongside digital lens based media which will include animation, film and video. Regular one day visits to view major contemporary exhibitions and galleries to supplement the contextual studies element of the course.
Progression: A recognised qualification for degree courses as well as specialist art courses. Careers in Photography including Advertising and Editorial, Fashion, Photo-journalism, Industrial/ Commercial, Scientific/Forensic, and Medical photography. Also a recognised pathway into all design practices such as Graphic design, Animation, Interior Design, Fashion/Industrial Design and Architecture, Computer Games Design. An ideal qualification for teaching at all levels.
